One of the first things I did after becoming Senior Creative Technologist at KKLD* (later Wunderman Thompson, then VML) was start a biweekly tech newsletter aptly named 'the news.' The beginnings were pretty humble, but it grew into a six-year run with a total of 128 published issues.

Technically, this was an internal newsletter and we never even had a sign-up page, but as people kept forwarding it to clients and network colleagues, we somehow ended up with about 550 official subscribers plus about another 50 unofficial. In a 150-person company.

At first, I just shared links with brief descriptions. Over time, these grew into articles, overviews, sometimes almost essays. Eventually, as AI took center stage and I became Head of AI, I had to shift my priorities. The last issue went out in December 2024.
